A Guide To How We Cost a Project

The Joint Research Office are experts in costing R&D grant applications and commercial projects. We will assess the resources you need to adequately support your project and produce detailed costing sheets that can be amended and finalised in partnership with our investigators.

Project costings must be completed by the Joint R&D Office. We will not authorise an application for external grants or commercial contracts unless this is the case.

For non-commercial costings, the office request that up to 7 working days be allowed for your original request for a costing quote to be processed by the costing officers, and up to 3 working days prior to a deadline be allowed for an authorised sign-off.

For commercial projects, the office should be informed as soon as a proposal is ready for discussion with a sponsor. The office will lead on the provision of costings, price negotiations and contractual matters.

This is to help you to fully prepare your costing requirements in a reasoned and well thought out manner, as much as it is to assist us in reducing bottle-necks caused by last minute applications. It will also help you as investigators to meet your deadlines.
