Biography:

Trained at Barts Hospital 1993-96. Experience in Urology and Intensive Care nursing before undertaking research work with Professor Fowler. Became CNS for ED in 1999. Completed PhD investigation into the clinical management of premature ejaculation in Bangladeshi Muslim men in 2009. In addition to the ED clinic in Urology (Friday mornings), I run the ED clinic in Radiotherapy (Friday afternoon’s) and the ED/PE clinic at Mile End Hospital (UROCAS ED/PE clinic, Tower Hamlets PCT, Wednesday mornings). I am also Head of Department for Applied Biological Sciences at City University, London. Research interests are Erectile Dysfunction and Premature Ejaculation.

Research programmes:

I was one of Professor Fowler's (Consultant Urologist) research nurses (1998-2002) and have experience in prostate trials (surgical and pharmacological) and continence trials (pharmacological). Since 2005, I have been engaged in a PhD focussing on the clinical management of PE, the cultural meanings of PE, and sequencing of treatment options, to see if these affect clinical outcomes. A new trial investigating interventions for men with ED following intervention for prostate cancer is planned for 2008.

Professional history:

I qualified from St Bartholomew's School of Nursing and Midwifery in 1996, and have a BSc (hons) in Nursing, and a MSc in Physiology. I have worked in urology and intensive care, and since 1999 have been a Clincal Nurse Specialist in erectile dysfunction (ED) and premature ejaculation (PE). I run two clinics, one for ED and one for PE, and on average see 30 patients each week in the nurse-led clinics. I am also a full-time academic at City University, and am the Head of Department for Applied Biological Sciences.
