What is the One Stop Urology Clinic?

Barts and the London Urology department are developing a One Stop Clinic. This is where you will have investigations performed to determine the reasons for the symptoms you have been experiencing. This clinic has been set up so that you can have all your investigations performed in the same day. When you arrive at the clinic you will be sent for the investigations which you may require before seeing a doctor. The Doctor will then see you with the results of all your investigations and give you a treatment plan at the end of your consultation. Please be prepared to spend up to two hours in the department, however less complictaed investigations will mean you spend less time in clinic

Investigations likely to be done:

You may have some of the investigations listed below, however, this will depend on the reason why you have been referred:

Urine sample to check for signs of a urinary infection
Flow rate test where you will be asked to pass urine into a device called a flow-rate machine which measures your flow of urine. Following this you will have an ultrasound scan of your bladder to ensure that your bladder is emptying properly
A blood test to check your kidney function and your Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA)
X-ray
Ultrasound scan of the urinary tract

What do I need to bring with me?

Patient are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their appointment and to be prepared to produce a urine sample on arrival.
Please bring a list of your current medications with you
