Referral guidelines

For routine referrals to Barts and The London Skin Centre, please use the Choose and Book system. Alternatively, referral letters should be sent for the attention of the appropriate consultant to:

Urgent appointments: a specialist registrar is available on call up to 7.30pm every weekday through the switchboard.

The centre is open from 9am and the direct line is 020 7377 7427.

There is a two-week wait for patients with melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, erythoderma and overwhelming skin infections.

If a patient is seen with a suspected malignant melanoma, where possible we aim to remove it there and then in clinic. If not, we bring the patient back within a few days to have it removed.

NB: Testing for food and drug allergies should be directed to the allergy centre at Barts and The London Chest Hospital not the dermatology clinic.
