Our Research Strategy

Barts Health NHS Trust produced a high level strategy for R&D, as part of its merger project, in March 2012.

That high-level strategy can be downloaded here

In 2009 Barts and The London NHS Trust and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry put in place a joint strategy for research. That strategy covers all medical-related research at both The Trust and Queen Mary University of London.

Research and development is an increasingly dynamic sector. Our five year strategy builds on our previous, and first, joint research strategy. It focuses on maintaining the impetus already achieved, learning lessons from the past and reviewing future priorities. It is designed to provide a framework within which individual clinical and academic departments set their specific research objectives and priorities.

The strategy can be downloaded here: Barts and The London's Joint R&D Strategy, 2010-2015.

Public consultation to develop our strategy

Our R&D strategy was created following an extensive consultation with many people and bodies across East London and beyond. This involved meetings with a wide variety of players, the publication of a formal consultation document and the consideration of respones and other input. The consultation paper, setting out our initial thinking, can be viewed here: Barts and The London's Joint R&D Strategy - consultation paper (October 2009).
