Counselling
Patients living with kidney disease may experience physical changes such as fatigue, irritability and loss of sexual desire. Patients on dialysis become dependent on a time-consuming treatment programme to stay alive. All these changes have an impact on lifestyle which can make patients and sometimes their families, feel angry or discouraged and depressed.
Our patients have open access to a full-time counsellor to help them and their families cope with living with kidney disease. The counsellor can be contacted directly or via one of the nurses. To find out more download the patient information leaflet: Counselling and Psychological Support for Kidney Patients.

Nutrition
Nutrition may be a problem for dialysis patients as certain foods are rich in salts that may accumulate in kidney disease. To advise on nutritional issues we have a team of dietitians who will advise about well-balanced nutritional meals and drinks.
