Taking care of your plaster

General advice about taking care of your plaster:

  • Do not get your cast wet
  • Do not push objects down your cast
  • Do not remove your cast unless advised to do so
  • Do not walk on your lower limb cast unless you have been taught to do so
  • Do not drive while wearing a cast
  • Take care of your cast
  • Exercise all joints that are not enclosed in your cast
  • Elevate your affected limb
  • Wear the shoe provided if allowed to walk on your lower limb cast.

If you experience any of the following, please contact the plaster room for advice on 020 7377 7000, extension 2328.

  • Rubbing
  • Loose or uncomfortable cast
  • Excessive itching
  • Increased pain under or around cast
  • If your cast becomes wet or damaged.

The Fracture Clinic has moved to the second floor of the main building.
