Adult congenital heart surgery

Surgery for atrial septal defect (ASD) closure

An ASD is an opening in the wall between the right and left atriae. This opening is present before birth but closes after birth.

If the opening persists in adulthood it can lead to detrimental changes to the heart. If it persists this can lead to detrimental changes to the heart.

A surgical procedure can be performed to close this hole.
