Becoming part of the trials

We are currently recruiting patients for the adult stem cells for heart failure trial.

If you have coronary heart disease or previous heart attack(s), and now suffer with heart failure, you may be eligible for the study.

To view a complete list of inclusion/exclusion criteria for the heart disease trials, please download a copy here -

Download inclusion and exclusion criteria here.

To be considered for the REGENERATE IHD trial, please print a copy of the inclusion and exclusion criteria above and ask your cardiologist, GP or heart failure nurse to complete it for you.

If your health professional feels that you meet the initial entry criteria for our studies then they would need to send a formal letter of referral to the below address, which ideally would include a copy of your most recent angiogram or echocardiogram and any other relevant documentation.

Once we have received the necessary information, we will arrange to see you in our clinic at The London Chest Hospital, to formally assess your suitability for our study and to explain the trial in detail to you.

If your cardiologist requires more information, he/she could refer to our page designed for healthcare professionals or contact Cristine Race on 0208 983 2448 or email regenerate@bartsandthelondon.nhs.uk

Assessment for the trial takes half a day.  The treatment phase takes five to seven days and may involve hospital stays for patients who don't live near the heart attack centre at The London Chest Hospital.

As this is very new research, your cardiologist may not be fully aware of our trial and stem cell research.

We will also be recruiting for the REGENERATE-DCM trial soon, please contact Mrs Laura Roberts - as above.
