Our services

At Barts and The London Heart Attack Centre, we have access to a comprehensive range of specialists in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, non-invasive imaging, cardiomyopathy, heart failure and cardiac rehabilitation.

The Heart Attack centre model has been designed around a safe and efficient patient journey. We audit our practice routinely and submit information to the Central Cardiac Audit database.  We have all the latest interventional technologies available to us and we are developing a broad research programme.

We have a dedicated MRI scanner attached to the catheter labs. This is currently the only scanner in a high volume interventional centre dedicated to imaging cardiology patients.

We currently treat more heart attack patients with primary angioplasty than any other centre in the UK and we are one of the biggest in Europe. This gives us a wealth and breadth of experience in treating this condition. Our catchment area has over 2 million people with the most diverse ethnic communities in London.

We recognise that our patients need well-developed support after they leave hospital. We therefore offer full rehabilitation courses to all our local patients and anyone who cannot access a course in their local hospital. We also provide a comprehensive follow-up service, with a minimum of three appointments in the 12 months after leaving hospital.
