We know that coming into hospital, whether it’s for routine or more specialist treatment, can be daunting, but our team of highly trained staff are here to welcome, care and support you throughout your visit. Please use the links below to find out more:
At your out-patients appointment you will be seen by one of the consultants or the specialist registrar plus one of the nurse specialists. You are likely to require blood samples to be taken after you have been seen and this may be done by one of the haemophilia clinical nurse specialists. If appropriate you may also be seen by a physiotherapist at the same visit. If you are taking any herbal or other over-the-counter preparations, we suggest you stop these at least 10 days before your appointment. This is because some of these treatments can affect the results of the blood tests. If you have any queries about this please do not hesitate to contact us. Please continue with all prescribed medication. Please remember to ensure that we have your current contact details.
During your in-patient stay you will be reviewed on a daily basis by one of the haemophilia team. If you are in under another consultant, the haemophilia team will be in close liaison with them. You will be admitted to a medical, surgical or paediatric ward, depending on the nature of your admission.
