Barts and The London Eye Service

Choosing us

To be seen by a member of our team you must be referred by a GP or optitian.

After you have seen your GP he/she will send a referral letter to the Eye Service requesting an appointment be made. Your first appointment will be at one of our outpatient clinics.

A member of the Eye Service team will use the referral letter and decide which clinic is most suitable to treat your eye or visual problem.

Frequently, patients will require extra tests and investigations – these are necessary for your diagnosis and management – and for this reason you may be given more than one appointment.

You will then be sent a letter asking you to phone the appointments centre on 020 7767 3200 to arrange a date and time that is convenient for you to attend the Eye Service.

Once the appointment is made, you will sent a letter confirming the date and time of your appointment, the name of the clinic or team member you will be seeing and which hospital your appointment is at.

The Eye Service has clinics at both The Royal London Hospital and St Bartholomew’s Hospital – please check this carefully on your letter.
