For GPs - to refer a patient for a first appointment at Barts and The London Endocrinology Centre, please use the Choose and Book system or contact us using the details below.

Out-of-hours and emergency referrals
If you are a patient and under the care of one of our endocrinologists and need some medical advice out of hours, telephone the hospital switchboard on 020 7377 7000 and ask reception to bleep the endocrinologist on call.

For families of children who are cared for our paediatric endocrinologists who require medical advice out of hours, again telephone the hospital switchboard on 020 7377 7000 and ask reception to bleep the paediatric medical registrar on call.

Telephone advice clinic
We are now offering a telephone consultation advice service for primary care physicians seeking advice about patients with endocrine problems.

Please use one of the following routes of referral:

1)       Fax the referral to 020 3465 6148. Mark for the attention of the endocrine telephone advice clinic.
2)       Email the referral

)       Telephone the referral to 020 346 55044 (24-hour answerphone)

In all cases please provide the following details:

  • Patient name, address and date of birth
  • Outline of the clinical query
  • Name of GP requesting advice
  • E-mail address of the GP [where possible] to confirm telephone clinic appointment time
  • Direct contact number for advice call (and if necessary, times of availability or unavailability)

In general we will aim to offer an advice telephone discussion to the GP within 2 weeks of the referral. Most of the consultations will occur between 2 and 4pm on Mondays and Thursdays. However alternative times can be accommodated if requested.
