Audiology for hearing difficulties
Patients experiencing hearing difficulties will be referred to our audiology service for a hearing test. This test normally takes an hour and an experienced team of audiology technicians will evaluate the test results and liaise with the ear, nose and throat consultant team to establish the best treatment approach to take.
If a hearing aid is required, patients are invited back to audiology to discuss their lifestyle and personal preferences. Our audiology team will tell patients about the types of hearing aids available to them. The patient’s personal preferences and lifestyle will all be taken into account when choosing the right hearing aid.
Once a hearing aid is fitted, support and advice is essential as it takes time to adjust to a new hearing aid. We can also arrange for repairs and answer any questions and concerns you may have. To find out more about living with a hearing aid please visit the website of the Royal National Institute for the Deaf.
