Dental implants

A dental implant is a titanium screw, which is surgically inserted into the jaw and may be used to replace a missing tooth or a whole set of teeth. This treatment is successful in over 90% of cases and provided the implants are cared for, they can last a lifetime.

Dental implants are an expensive form of treatment and strict criteria are applied for the provision of treatment within the NHS. Typical patients who may benefit from treatment on the NHS include those who have missing teeth from birth including cleft lip and palate, trauma or undergone surgery from cancer and patients who have lost all their teeth below the age of 40.
