Help and advice

If you or your child has any concerns or questions during their stay, the doctor, senior nurse, matron or ward staff will be happy to help. Even if they are busy, they will always try to make the time to listen and give you the information you need.

Additional support is available through our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). This service can help answer any questions you have and provide information on hospital care and patients’ rights.

For patients who do not speak or read English, the Health Advocacy Service can offer information, support and advice in other languages. Ward staff can also arrange for interpreters or advocates.

Chaplains of many faiths are available to speak to all patients, relatives and carers. The chaplaincy team welcomes everyone, whatever your faith or beliefs and whether or not you follow a religion. Information about your religious affiliation will be passed to the chaplaincy. If you do not wish this to happen, please inform a member of staff.

If you would like to speak to a chaplain, you can contact them on 020 359 42070, or ask a member of staff to phone them on your behalf. If we aren't available, please leave a message or email: chaplains@bartsandthelondon.nhs.uk.

In an emergency - please ask the ward staff to contact us. We provide a 24-hour service and the appropriate on-call chaplain can be contacted via the main switchboard.

The chaplains have links with many faith communities and will always try to get an appropriate representative when asked to do so. The service is confidential and respectful.
