To refer a patient to Barts and The London Children’s Hospital, please either use the Choose and Book system (for first outpatient appointments) or send a letter or fax to our Outpatients Appointments Centre:

Advice and Guidance (via choose and book only)

Requests for advice and guidance for general paediatrics can be submitted via choose and book. A clinician will respond within three working days.

Referring children with suspected cancer

Children with suspected malignancy may be referred to the oncology unit either directly by a GP or from their local district hospital. This may be by telephone or fax to 020 7377 7796. The unit will endeavour to admit the child to the ward within 24-48 hours of the referral.

Referring children to our dental services

To assist GDPs and GPs with making referrals, standard forms have been developed - download referral form.  

Before making a referral please check our acceptance criteria, this will help ensure that we provide the service you are looking for.

Conditions that can be referred include:

• Morbidly obese (+3.5sds), Obese with co-morbidities
• Coeliac disease, Malabsorption Syndrome, Pseudo Obstruction, Special diets
• Newly diagnosed diabetes, those with poor blood glucose control/weight management
• Food allergies accept non-nutritional food allergies
• Faltering growth - see referral criteria for categories
• Cystic Fibrosis
• Oncology
• Children receiving artificial nutrition support
