One of the leading centres in the UK

Barts and The London Centre for Reproductive Medicine (CRM) is based at the renowned St Bartholomew’s Hospital (known as Barts), in the City of London near St Paul’s Cathedral.  The centre moved to a newly refurbished part of the Hospital in 2004 (Kenton and Lucas Block) designed to provide state-of-the-art surroundings for patients.

Getting to St Bartholomew's Hospital

We offer both NHS and private treatment options and offer treatment to couples, single women and same sex couples. Since the loss of donor anonymity and subsequent shortage of donor sperm we have established our own donor sperm bank which has enabled us to treat couples attending the clinic who require this facility.

Our team are committed to providing the best medical and scientific care to our patients and understand that patients receiving fertility treatment require very special attention before, during and after their treatment.

As an integral part of one of London’s best teaching hospitals we have ready access to the clinical expertise and services of the Trust sometimes needed by individual couples seeking treatment.

Our multidisciplinary team consists of consultants, an associate specialist, doctors, nurses, embryologists, administrative staff and counsellors. We believe that team work is critical to the quality of our service so that patients receive a high standard of medical and scientific treatment, nursing care and counselling support if required.

Choosing us

Barts and The London Centre for Reproductive Medicine treats couples and also single women and lesbian couples for infertility. We recommend that women should be under 44 at the time of referral. Women above this age can be seen on an individual basis to discuss their fertility, although we would not automatically agree to treat.

If you are interested in receiving fertility treatment at our centre, please obtain a referral letter from your GP or consultant gynaecologist. Once we have received the referral letter, we will contact you by letter, enclosing an information booklet, costs (if necessary) and success rates.

Warm welcome

We recognise that patients receiving fertility treatment require very special attention before, during and after their treatment. Our team of experts is dedicated to helping you through this difficult time and providing the best care to suit your individual needs.

Leading specialists

Our centre is in the privileged position of being able to use a wide range of expertise which benefits all our patients. Our leading consultants are supported by a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, embryologists, ultrasonographers, administrative staff and counsellors. In addition, we are able to call on the services of other specialists as required.

All of our team are committed to providing the highest possible standards of care.

Using research to develop cutting-edge treatments

As a large teaching and specialist hospital we conduct a wide variety of medical research to ensure that we provide the most advanced and successful treatments for our patients. Working closely with Barts and The London Queen Mary’s School of Medicine and Dentistry, our team of clinicians and scientists are at the forefront of research – investigating new therapies and novel approaches for the diagnosis, classification and treatment of fertility conditions.
