Our services | Functional bowel disorders including IBS
Functional bowel disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) are relatively common.
Classic symptoms include mild to severe abdominal pain, discomfort and bloating.
The cause of IBS is not known but it can occur following an infection or a stressful event.
Treatments aim to relieve symptoms and can include psychological interventions. Research has suggested a link between the brain and the digestive tract.
We operate daily nurse-led functional bowel or faetal incontinence clinic based at The Royal London hospital.
You will need to be referred to these clinics by your doctor. If you have any enquiries, please call 020 7377 7099.
