Dr Sibtain worked at the Royal Marsden, Mount Vernon and The Middlesex Hospitals before he was appointed to Barts. He was awarded his MD degree from the University of London for research in tumour hypoxia.
He is a Past President of the Oncology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine, an examiner in oncology for the Royal College of Radiologists, oncology advisor for BBC Drama, a member of the medical advisory panel for Cancer Backup, Programme Director for Clinical Oncology Specialist Training Committee for the London Deanery, Former Chairman of the Head and Neck Tumour Board for North East London, and the Clinical Lead in Head and Neck Cancer at Barts.
He has edited the book 'Towards the Prevention of Cancer', published in November 2007 by the RSM press
Dr Amen Sibtain MD MRCP FRCR specialises in the treatment of Gastrointestinal, Hepatobiliary and Head and Neck cancers. He has particular expertise in chemoradiotherapy, new radiotherapy techniques, including Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy, Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and is an early adopter of the Cyberknife.
