Karina Reynolds read medicine at Trinity College Dublin. Having trained in Obsterics and Gynaecology and in General Surgery in the UK, she completed subspecialist training in Gynaecological Oncology at the Universities of McMaster and Toronto in Canada. She was appointed Consultant at the ChristieHospital and St Mary’s Hospital Manchester in 1997 but since 2003 has been based at St Bartholomew's Hospital. Her particular interests are in optimising surgery for patients with ovarian cancer and in quality of life amongst cancer survivors. Although her research interests have included angiogenesis on ovarian cancer, screening for ovarian cancer and familial ovarian cancer she is currently focussing on optimising clinical decision making as it relates to surgery in ovarian cancer patients. She is Lead of the Gynaecological Oncology Guideline Group affiliated with the British Gynaecological Cancer Society and is a member of the National Network Leads Group in Gynaecoloigcal Oncology. In addition she is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training at Barts and The London School of Medicine.
