Senior Occupational Therapist

Biography:

Will joined the unit in 2002 as Senior Occupational Therapist, having previously worked in a community social services HIV team.

Areas of work:

Will provides occupational therapy to both inpatients on Frederick Andrewes Ward as well as outpatients of the Graham Hayton Unit. With the senior physiotherapist Will runs SMARTgroup, an HIV rehabilitation and exercise group, and in 2010 there are plans to commence a new multi-disciplinary group programme for people living with HIV related fatigue.

Special interests:

Will has a particular interest in the assessment and treatment of HIV related functional cognitive impairment, and in particular the tools and outcome measures used in measuring real life problems with information processing and memory impairment. Will also has a special interest in HIV and the older adult and was a keynote speaker at the College of Occupational Therapy national conference on this topic in 2009. He has co-authored a chapter on HIV related malignancies in a Cancer and Occupational Therapy textbook.

Will is a part of the Canada-UK HIV Rehabilitation Collaborative, has presented on HIV and rehabilitation at the World AIDS Conference, and is an active member of the College of Occupational Therapy’s HIV Special Interest Group.
