Referral guidelines
To refer a patient for a first appointment at Barts and The London Heart Centre, please use Choose and Book.
For tertiary referrals for all heart rhythm patients please address your referral to the relevant consultant and send to the below address:

Surgical referrals
Referrals to the cardiothoracic surgical service are mostly referrals from either cardiology consultants or respiratory consultants for tertiary surgical care.
Referrals should be directed to a specific consultant or via the Patient Focus Team (cardiothoracic surgery) to the surgical team for patient choice patients. These patients will then be allocated to the surgeon with the shortest waiting times.

Cardiac electro-physiology
We are happy to see any patient with any of the symptoms or conditions described in our services section. Patients who have unexplained syncope or any palpitations in a patient with known structural heart disease should be referred urgently.
Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic
The rapid access chest pain clinic based at The London Chest hospital is a service for patients with stable angina or the new onset of chest pain.
Patients attending this clinic must be referred to the service by their GP, who can fax referrals to number 020 8983 2274.
