What we treat

Barts and The London Allergy Centre treats the following allergies:

For adults: 

  • Allergic rhinitis (sneezing, runny nose, nasal blockage, caused by an allergy) in moderate to severe cases, possibly needing desensitisation 
  • Anaphylaxis (a life-threatening allergic reaction)
  • Chronic urticaria (a skin condition also known as nettle rash or hives) and angioedema (swelling of the skin) lasting more than three months 
  • Suspected food allergy
  • Drug allergy (except local anaesthetic allergy)
  • Allergy to wasp or bee venom, where desensitisation is considered
  • Asthma or eczema, only when a specific trigger has been identified by the patient and requires confirmation and further treatment

For children:

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Food allergies
  • Eczema
  • Allergic asthma
