Bringing Excellence to Life

Upper limb and hand services

For patients with degenerative joint conditions (such as rheumatoid arthritis) of the shoulder, elbow and wrist or other chronic conditions such as rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome or Dupeytren’s contracture of the hand we offer a range of routine and specialist orthopaedic services.

Fractures and dislocations of the upper limb are common. As well as the routine treatment of fractures we treat more complex injuries including acute rotator cuff tears and tendon ruptures and lacerations including tendon transfers. For example, if you have damaged a tendon in your arm, it can be replaced and repaired using a tendon from elsewhere (usually from another part of your arm).

We work closely with our colleagues at Barts and The London Plastic Surgery Centre in our treatment of patients with hand injuries or degenerative conditions.
