Barts and The London Orthopaedic Centre
At Barts and The London Orthopaedic Centre, we are committed to improving our patients’ quality of life. Not only do we offer routine and specialist surgical treatments, we also provide rehabilitation services to support the complex nature of patient care. This is provided by a range of professionals including specialist nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
About our trauma and orthopaedic physiotherapy service
The trauma and orthopaedic physiotherapy service treats patients with musculoskeletal injuries, such as broken bones and soft tissue injuries. The team is made up of physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants and we work closely with the consultants, nurses and other therapists to co-ordinate your care.
Physiotherapy is something you do. Our team will guide you in the rehabilitation process helping to promote as much independence as possible. Our aim is to help you to improve movement in your joints and restore your muscle strength using manual techniques, exercise and movement re-education. The rehabilitation is provided to help you be as agile as possible.
After an accident or surgery we can help you work towards returning to life outside hospital. We will agree together the goals you need to reach in order to achieve this. These goals can range from being able to walk short distances within your home to initiating the early rehabilitation to return you to your sport.
