When will the move happen?
The moves into the new building started in December 2011 and continued through to February 2012. Patients began to use the new building as services move over. The new hospital opened fully on 1 March 2012. Vital Arts are holding a month long festival to celebrate the final move of the Royal London Hospitals services into the fantastic new home.
Further changes to The Royal London site – 2012-2014
At the end of January 2012, Alex Wing will be handed over to Skanska, our construction partners, to be refurbished and then reopened as the new Dental Hospital in 2014. Holland Wing, East Wing, Garden House, David Hughes and Fielden House will all be demolished.
Front Block will not be used and we will protect the building while the estate and commercial strategy of the Trust is further developed. To do that, the majority of the older parts of the hospital will be secured and wrapped within a hoarding to protect the buildings.
