Capital Hospitals contracts with the various specialist organisations that are delivering the construction and facilities services, including:

Construction – Skanska

As well as the distinctive Swiss Re building, Skanska's landmark construction projects include the Ministry of Defence's headquaters in Whitehall. The company also had a lead role on four contracts totalling over £500 million to build the high-speed Channel Tunnel rail link through Kent and London. 

Skanska has formed a joint-venture between two of its divisions: Skanska Major Projects and Skanska Rashleigh Weatherfoil, to deliver the construction for the Barts and The London hospitals.

Architecture - HOK

HOK has designed the state-of-the-art new medical facilities at Barts and The London, blending the new complex with existing buildings that date back to the 18th century.

HOK has designed a variety of significant projects in London including: Heathrow Terminal 5 Transport Interchange; Barclays Bank World Headquarters; the Darwin Centre Phase 1 at the Natural History Museum; the Ministry of Defence Headquarters; the Cabinet Office and the Churchill Museum. 

Management Services - HCP

HCP provides management services to Capital Hospitals.  HCP has a strong track record in leading and managing successful projects with public and private sector partners, encompassing NHS Trusts, Facilities Management providers, contractors and equity funders.  Services cover the full project lifecycle, from initial concept to commissioning, operations and project services.   

Facilities Management

Capital Hospitals contracts with specialist organisations to provide Facilities Management (FM) services for the majority of the existing estate and the new hospitals, once they become operational.  These organisations include:

  • Facilities Services provides hard facilities management services, such as maintenance and repair, energy management, and clinical and domestic waste disposal.
  • Carillion provides soft facilities management services, such as catering, cleaning, portering and security.
  • Synergy Healthcare provides sterile services.
  • Siemens provides the managed equipment service, which includes the procurement and maintenance of a range of large radiological imaging devices such as MRI systems and CT scanners.
  • Varian provides the radiotherapy managed equipment service, which includes the procurement and maintenance of a range of radiotherapy equipment, such as linear accelerators.
