Work to construct the new hospitals is taking place in phases at both Barts and The Royal London to allow hospital services and activities to continue 24 hours a day throughout the redevelopment programme.

Barts Timetable

Completed in spring 2010 – The first half of the new seven-storey building at Barts, mainly to accommodate cancer services.

Autumn 2014 – Completion of the second half of the new building at Barts to house cardiac facilities and a minor injuries unit.

Winter 2015/1016 – Completion of a new car park and energy centre at Barts, plus refurbishment of the square as a pedestrian area and restoration to its former glory.                                                        

The Royal London Timetable

Winter 2011/2012 – Completion of the three purpose-built towers to house the majority of clinical services at The Royal London.

Spring 2014 – Refurbishment of Alexandra Wing at The Royal London.

Winter 2015/2016 – Completion of further work at The Royal London site.
