New hospitals

Barts and The London NHS Trust is replacing many of its ageing buildings with state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to rival the best in Europe.

The opening of the new hospitals will transform the experience of patients, staff and visitors, with outstanding new facilities and an exceptional environment for the delivery of patient care.

Moves into the new Royal London hospital began on 6 December 2011. By the end of February 2012, 110 wards and departments (and more than 3,000 staff members) will have relocated into the new building.

We have already opened one of Europe’s most advanced cancer centres at Barts in March 2010. The second phase at Barts will be a cardiac centre of excellence, due for completion in 2014.
