Barts and The London Heart Surgery Centre
At Barts and The London Heart Surgery Centre, we work closely with our colleagues in the heart rhythm centre, to treat and care for patients with irregular heart rhythms.
Most patients with an irregular heart rhythm (the most common cause of which is known as atrial fibrillation), can undergo non-surgical correction with state-of-the-art cardiac mapping systems.
On some occasions, however, particularly if a patient is undergoing surgery for a related heart condition, we will use surgery to correct their heart rhythm at the same time, with a success rate of between 70-90% depending on the cause of the problem.
