Waiting times for heart surgery at Barts and The London

• In the last five years we have treated an average of between 1500-1800 patients a year.
  
• The average waiting time for the first outpatient appointment for patients requiring elective cardiac surgery (for planned, non emergency operations) is one of the lowest in the UK - between 2 - 4 weeks. 
  
• We also have a rapid access service for inpatients.  All inpatients are seen by a consultant within 48 hours and receive surgery between 24-48 hours.

Survival rates for heart surgery patients at Barts and The London

The number of patients who survive their operation and are successfully discharged is currently 98.4 per cent -well above the national average.

Patient satisfaction

In a recent survey 95 per cent of patients said the care they received was excellent.
