Ken's story

Beefeater Ken Bryant is back on his feet after hip surgery and a bone graft to repair a broken bone in his right thigh. The operation at The Royal London Hospital meant Ken, 64, could return to his job of 25 years as a yeoman warder at the Tower of London. Read more about Ken's story >>


Fay's story

After suffering chest pains while out shopping, Fay Parsons was taken to Barts and The London Heart Attack Centre, based at The London Chest Hospital.  She immediately underwent a procedure called an angioplasty, which stopped her heart attack and saved her life. Read more about Fay's story >>


Jayjay's story

Jayjay Bristow was born with his bowel and intestines outside his body and needed an immediate, life-saving operation. The surgery went well and after months of tube feeding, Jayjay is now eating solids and getting healthier every day. Read more about Jayjay's story >>


Abu's story

Abu Kamara’s life was saved by the trauma team at The Royal London Hospital after he was shot in the neck. He then returned to the hospital to undergo complex larynx (voice box) surgery, which has improved his speech and breathing. Read more about Abu's story >>


Graham’s story

Graham Barnet had a heart attack while running the 2006 London marathon. He was rushed to Barts and The London Heart Attack Centre – Britain’s biggest – for an emergency angioplasty, an advanced life-saving procedure.  Read more about Graham's story >>


Lesley-Anne’s story

Lesley-Anne Robins was living in Canada with her husband and two young children when she was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Her Canadian oncologist recommended Barts and The London for treatment when the family returned to England. Read more about Lesley-Anne's story >>


Sarbjit’s story

Sarbjit Pandit was seven months pregnant when she was brought to The Royal London Hospital in a coma, having suffered a critical brain haemorrhage. Sarbjit immediately underwent a life-saving craniotomy operation late at night to remove the blood clot in the brain, and over the course of two further days, had five other operations at the hospital, including a tracheostomy to help her breathe and an emergency caesarean section - to save her baby's life.
