Improving services for outpatients

A major improvement programme is underway to transform our services for outpatients.

In 2009/2010 520,136 people attended clinic appointments at our hospitals - over 60 per cent of our total patient attendances.

As part of our commitment to continually improve we are refurbishing our facilities, we have introduced a new text reminder service and have developed new ways for you to tell us how we're doing.

Improving facilities
Work has begun to improve the Outpatients Building at The Royal London. The work will improve the entrances, reception and transport areas and will be completed by mid-December.

Text reminder service
More and more patients will receive a text message to remind them of their hospital appointment. One message is sent two weeks before the scheduled appointment. The second reminder is sent three days before the appointment. If the appointment is no longer needed or is not convenient, you can respond to the text and a member of our Central Appointments team will call you back.

The new service is free. You can opt out by calling the Central Appointments Office on 020 7767 3200 (Mon-Thurs 8am-6pm and Friday 8am-5pm).
