BBC1 Hospital Heroes
A 20-part series about Barts and The London’s hospitals and London’s Air Ambulance

A new BBC series Hospital Heroes was broadcasted 9.15am-10am on BBC1 (after BBC Breakfast) every weekday from Monday 26 April until Friday 21 May. The series could also be viewed on BBC iPlayer.
The 20-part series was filmed at The Royal London, Barts and with London’s Air Ambulance from August to November 2009.

Patients going through kidney donor/transplant surgery

Complex maxillofacial trauma surgery to rebuild a man’s face after a horrific accident

The pioneering work of the cardiac electrophysiology team at Barts correcting debilitating heart rhythm problems

The interventional radiology team using minimally invasive techniques to treat a man with a life-threatening aortic aneurysm and a woman whose fibroids caused her to be severely anaemic.
The filming was organised and supervised by the Trust’s Press Office with robust contractual procedures in place to protect the patients and staff involved.
