Barts and The London Dental Hospital
Endodontics is part of restorative dentistry, which aims to restore teeth to their normal form, function and appearance.
Endodontics deals with the health of the tooth pulp and tissues surrounding the root of the tooth. The tooth pulp contains nerves and blood vessels and, like any other bodily tissue, these can become diseased or injured and unable to repair themselves.
Endodontic treatments includes root canal treatment (root filling) and root end surgery. Particular conditions which are treated within endodontics include the treatment of nerve damage, abscesses, cysts of dental origin and trauma.
