Barts and The London Dental Hospital provides walk-in services for adults and children for emergency cases.

Day-time emergencies

Patients are assessed on their condition and those with acute dental emergencies are prioritised and seen first. This will include acute dental trauma, facial swelling and medically compromised patients with severe toothache.  Both adults and children are seen as emergency cases on a Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).

Locations:

The daytime emergency dental service for adults is based on the 1st floor and for children on the 3rd floor of the Dental Hospital, New Road, London E1 1BB.

Evenings, weekend and bank holidays emergencies

On evenings, weekends and public holidays those with urgent dental problems should call the Emergency Dental Service at the times below.

This emergency dental service is for North East London residents only who need urgent dental treatment when their practice is closed. The North East London area is as follows: City of London, London Borough of Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Waltham Forest.

Patients can call the Emergency Dental Service on Tel 020 7377 7151 to speak to a dentist for free advice and help finding emergency treatment.

The out of hours opening times are:

Monday to Friday, 6.30pm-10pm

Saturday and Sunday, 7.30am-3pm

Bank holidays, 7.30am-8pm

NHS fees are payable, subject to certain exemptions, for all work undertaken at evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Proof of exemption needs to be provided. This service is operated by Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust.
