Leading specialists

As a large teaching hospital trust, our allergy team is comprised of a range of health specialists and experts including doctors, specialist nurses, dietitians and technical staff. We are closely linked to Barts and The London Respiratory Centre and our expertise benefits all our patients.

We provide training for undergraduates, postgraduates, primary care and allied health professionals, and are part of the East London and Essex Allergy Network.

Using research to develop cutting-edge treatments

As a large teaching and specialist hospital we continually push the boundaries of medical research to ensure that we are able to provide the most advanced and successful technologies and treatments.

Barts and The London Allergy Centre is involved in developing the latest allergy treatments via the Lung Research Centre. Our research includes trials on sublingual immunotherapy, a method of allergy treatment that uses an allergen tablet given under the tongue to reduce long-term symptoms, and development of new antihistamine treatments.

Seamless service

For adults, we offer a one-stop clinic where patients see a consultant, have allergy tests and receive a management plan on the same day. Critical to the quality of our service is teamwork; our patients experience a multi-disciplinary and seamless approach – receiving additional high quality nursing care, including training with adrenaline auto-injector pens, if necessary, and therapeutic support, such as dietary advice, in one appointment.
