Barts and The London Urology Centre is based at two of our hospitals; The Royal London in Whitechapel and St Bartholomew’s (known as Barts) by St Paul’s in the City.
About urology
Urology focuses on the urinary tracts of males and females - i.e. conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder and male genetalia.
In contrast to female urinary problems, male urinary problems often have symptoms which overlap with the reproductive system.
Appropriately urology is sometimes called the genito-urinary system.
Our specialists
The department has expertise in keyhole surgery for kidney cancer and kidney stones and has a state-of-the-art treatment approach to prostate cancer.
Our urological doctors are supported by specialist nurses. The department has six specialist nurses who have a special interest in particular areas of urology; 3 urological cancers; 3 non cancerous urology diseases.
The specialists nurses are professional in their friendly and understanding approach. They understand the sensitivity needed to treat some of our urological patients who'se quality of life is affected by their symptoms.
