Barts and The London Children's Hospital
Translating research into patient care
Our joint work with Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry ensures that our hospital services are underpinned by a strong research base, giving us an edge in evidence-based medical intervention.
At the children’s hospital, our academic team is based largely within the Centre for Paediatrics at the Institute of Cell and Molecular Science (ICMS), part of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, and is responsible for undertaking our paediatric research and teaching.
We have active areas of research in several specialties and the majority of these are housed in the ICMS, based close to The Royal London Hospital. Examples of our initiatives include:
There are several paediatric specialists including Professor K Costeloe, Drs S Carr, Kempley McKenzie and Telfer, undertaking applied research projects in many areas of paediatrics. The close interface between research and clinical activity across the whole of paediatrics (partnership between Queen Mary’s College and Barts and The London NHS Trust) ensures that we remain at the forefront nationally and internationally.
